According to TechCrunch, Youtube has launched a new ‘à la carte’ feature that enables users to choose between 20 channels.

‘Showtime and HBO Max, NBA League Pass, MLB.TV and Starz’ are just some of the add-on channels users can now choose from individually.

The news broke back in August. The Wall Street Journalreported that Youtube has been working on its streamingvideo marketplace or what is being referred to as the ‘channel store’ for at least 18 months, while also negotiating with various entertainment companies about participating in the network.
Endgadgetcites an interview between Starz CEO, Jeffrey Hirsch and The Journal, where he said bundling streaming services with other players makes sense for users, and it provides channels with the opportunity to be offered to more people while also making subscription cancellations less likely.
Breaking down the full subscription fee
Youtube has been offering the $64.99 all-pass subscription fee that gave users the opportunity to enjoy more than 85 channels.
Now users can custom tailor their preference by updating their membership and be invoiced in one place by Youtube’s marketplace interface, TechCrunch reports.
All it takes to make the switch to the ‘à la carte’ offering for users is to visit the ‘Settings’ page of their account, go under ‘Membership’ then ‘Manage’ and cancel the base plan, thereafter, choosing ‘Update memberships’ to add individual networks to their plan.
While being able to choose only the content that they desire most, the users will be charged accordingly, which will enable users to save money.
With the updated membership, users do not lose the functionalities of the base plan like ‘Unlimited DVR, three simultaneous streams and six household accounts’, TechCrunch reports.
TechCrunch also lists the full list of currently available networks to choose from in this new Youtube ‘à la carte offering’.
