The unclaimed vouchers are a result of airlines controversially issuing travel vouchers rather than cash refunds for holidaymakers during the Covid-19 pandemic. Passengers are now being warned that many of these vouchers will soon expire unless they are redeemed.

Unclaimed flight vouchers

It is estimated that International Airlines Group (IAG) – the parent company of BA, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, and LEVEL – still has unclaimed vouchers worth £533 million issued during the pandemic. Easyjet meanwhile, still has around £110 million in unclaimed vouchers. EasyJet have said none of their vouchers have expired yet but some British Airways vouchers will run out in September 2023

You should have been contacted by your airline if your flight was cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions and you opted to receive the voucher. Easyjet says that you should be able to find your voucher by searching through your email inbox for the term 'flight voucher', 'easyJet voucher' or the booking reference of the disrupted flight your voucher was issued for. It is also worth checking junk and spam folders in case it is in there, as per Lancashire Live.

British Airways also say those who were affected will have been contacted and sent their voucher to the email address registered with the booking. However, they have also provided an online tool to check if you have a voucher just by entering your email address.
