If you grew up in Britain, you maybe check for monsters under the bed but probably never think to check for serpents under the sheets! A woman was shocked to discover a huge snake ‘trying to take a kip’ in her bed on Thursday 7 September.

The yellow Californian Kingsnake was first taken to a garda station, and then on to a pet shop that is trying to reunite the reptile with its owners.
The California Kingsnake
The California Kingsnake ‘makes an excellent pet’, according to Everything Reptiles, because ‘they are docile, easy to care for and cheap’. They typically cost under £80 and grow up to four feet in length.
They are apparently not that selective about their diet. Owners usually keep small animals such as mice in batches in the freezer and take them out one at a time to thaw before ‘serving’. This species tends to get excited about their meals, and may accidentally bite their owner if they aren’t careful when placing the ready-made meal in the cage. Thankfully, they are not venomous.

The pet shop is trying to find the owners
Shauna’s Pet Shop on Capel Street is looking after the animal. The staff posted on Facebook:
We are hoping to reunite this lovely Kingsnake with their owner, he was found in an unsuspecting individual's bed in Dublin 8 this afternoon!
