Love Island's Olivia Explains Why She DUMPED Cara De La Hoyde As Bridesmaid

Both the Love Island 2016 runners-up Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen and winners Nathan Massey and Cara De La Hoyde are engaged to be married. With Olivia's wedding next month, best friend Cara was all set to be bridesmaid. However, Olivia has now revealed that she has asked her pal to step down as she feels she couldn't handle the pressure.

Speaking to now! Magazine, Olivia said: 'Cara’s got [son] Freddie now and when I asked her [to be a bridesmaid] she was a lot less busy and I thought she could handle the pressure.'

Cara and Nathan welcomed baby Freddie in December 2017, around the same time that Olivia and Alex got engaged.

We’re not sure exactly what kind of ‘pressure’ Olivia means but we can’t help but wonder if she might be a bit of a Bridezilla! However, Olivia insists that there is no bad blood and that they're still the best of friends: 'We both don’t need that label. You don’t have to be a bridesmaid to know that we are good friends. We're very honest with each other.'

Olivia’s remaining bridesmaids include old friends from before her Love Island days, as well as co-star Tina Stinnes, whom she also met in the villa.

Just last week, Olivia shared a sweet snap of herself and Cara with their respective fiances, captioned 'The Wedding Club' and back in June, Cara joined Olivia and girlfriends including fellow Love Islander Gabby Allen on her hen do in Mykonos.

Wedding plans

Olivia and Alex’s big day will be taking place in Essex and they’re inviting 100 guests for the day and 250 for the evening celebrations.

After an emotional appearance on Say Yes To The Dress, Olivia eventually found her dream wedding dress in the same high street store her mum had found her own wedding dress two years previously. She has revealed she’s gone ‘for something I don't think anyone would expect. It made all of us cry.’

We can’t wait to see how it looks on the big day!

Anything you can do…

Whilst Olivia and Alex’s wedding date is set for September, we’re not sure when or where Cara and Nathan’s big day will be taking place yet. They announced their engagement in July this year, after Nathan proposed in the sweetest way. He took Cara back to the Love Island villa in Mallorca where they first met and set up a treasure hunt featuring significant places to the couple – all leading to the pool, where he finally popped the question. Cara of course said yes and later described the proposal as ‘so romantic’.

It’s not all plain sailing though, as Cara says she’d love to get married in Portugal but Nathan would prefer England. It looks like Nathan might win this one, as Cara admitted ‘We have elderly grandparents and we’d like them to be there, so we have to think about the travelling.’ Sounds fair enough, and we’re sure they’ll manage to have an exotic honeymoon somewhere hot!
