Love Island rests firmly as the nation’s most-watched reality TV show, and airing at 9pm, many would assume that the antics alluded to in this tongue-and-cheek form of adult TV would escape the eyes of the innocent
Unfortunately, recent days has taught us that this is far from the case as a school principal at Ygsol Gymraeg Teil Sant in Llandeilo, Whales has had to write a letter to parents in a bid to warn them off allowing their kids to watch the programme.
Aled Rees explained that schoolchildren were imitating behaviours from the show as they attempted to “couple up” with others on the basis of who made a suitable match considering their looks.
Ales wrote, “I am of the opinion that primary school pupils aren’t mature enough to watch a programme of this nature where a person’s appearance is more important than their personality.”
“This isn’t the kind of message we promote in school. These individuals are no role models for our children and I would encourage you to consider whether the programme, language and sexual nature is a thing that you wish your children to see, hear and emulate.”
