Weighing as much as a human adult, this pup got a lot of attention from people but few potential adopters. People were simply terrified by the sheer size of this beast. Luckily, he was now offered a loving home with seven acres to play to fit his gigantic playful personality.

A small-stray-turned-beast

Two-year-old mastiff Basher has been rescued as a small stray in January 2020 but quickly grew to be an incredible 6ft when standing on his hind legs. The man-sized 60kg pup has since been living in RSPCA Cornwallkennels. Though the charity tried hard, they couldn’t find him a forever home as potential families were put off by his size.

Though Basher had been adopted in November last year, his owners weren’t able to keep him as ‘he just didn't cope in their home’. They returned him right away.

According to Sammy Howard from the RSPCA centre in St Columb, the massive pup was ‘quite destructive’ and ‘just like a tornado’ in his new home.

A perfect home with seven acres to play in

The RSPCA Cornwall sighed with relief after Basher was finally offered a new home and a love and care he deserves.

The charity shared the happy news on Twitter:

We said the fondest of farewells to our big boy Basher recently as he’s set off for his new home. We’re so grateful to Basher’s owner for taking him on, we know you’ll be so happy together.

This time around, the massive pup will have seven acres to play in, which is perfect for him as he ‘gets a bit excited around birds’.

Nicole Doige from the rescue described Basher as ‘one of the most handsome, loving dogs there is’ who ‘loves a good cuddle and a good fuss’. She added:

He’s one very happy dog at the moment. He was with us a long time and he was part of the family, but it’s great to see him in his new home.
