Golden oldies

When Jack and Maisie were 14, they were heartlessly dumped at a rescue centre. This pair of 'golden oldies' were overlooked because of their senior age, with no one wanting to give them forever home.

But TikTok user @jenna.fifiwasn’t put off by the elderly pups. She adopted them and shared her joy online.

She wrote in a caption to her video:

When Jack and Maisie were 14, they were dumped at a rescue centre. At their age, they just wanted love and cuddles. They had hardly any interest because of their age until I found them.

Making the most out of every single day

According to the RSPCA, the average lifespan of dog breeds can vary greatly. A chihuahua has an average lifespan of 7.1 years while a miniature poodle can live to be 14.2 years old. But it is clear that, with good care, pooches can live a longer and happier life.

Jennaadopted 'the cheeky duo' when they were 14. Four and a half years later, at the super senior age of 18, they still thrive in her loving home.

The animal lover wrote:

And here we are four and a half years later. Making the most out of every single day.

The clip was filled with adorable shots of Jack and Maisie running around and having cuddles with their owner.

Since being shared earlier this week, the clip has been viewed more than 190,500 times and commented on more than 22,000 times.

Many praised Jenna for taking care of the older dogs and inspiring others to consider pets that are normally overlooked.

One TikTok user said:

I hope one day to go to the shelter and say 'which are the oldest' and give them their last few years full of everything even if my heart breaks at the end.
