In 2050, myopia will affect one in every two people. To stop this phenomenon, a team of Israeli researchers have been working on creating a miracle product. But what is it? Eye drops that allow you to see again without needing to visit the surgeon.

The technique was developed by Doctor David Smadja, an ophthalmologist at Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem. The idea? A laser is charged with making small holes in your eye in order to ‘stamp’ an optical pattern onto the corneal surface. The drops are then applied to the eyes daily and will seep into the microscopic spaces created by this stamp and modify the journey the light takes when it enters your eye to take it where correction is optimal.
According to researchers, the laser procedure will need to be carried out every week since the small holes in the eye only last 7 days. But eventually, the objective is that the patient will be able to carry out this procedure alone, and it’s also worth knowing that it’s completely pain-free.
