I’m A Celeb faces backlash after last night’s double eviction: ‘This format is absolute rubbish’

The Friday night (May 5) episode that ended on a cliffhanger between two teams - Jordan and Myleene (yellow team) and Toff and Andy (green team) - ended up seeing the green team leave the camp. This came after the closely fought Gold Rush challenge resulted in Jordan and Myleene winning and getting a picnic basket for their tribe.

This year’s I’m A Celeb South Africa is pre-recorded, hence trials and eliminations take place differently. I’m A Celeb fans were left annoyed and furious at the result yet again as Toff and Andy were favourites to win.

Toff and Andy get eliminated from the camp

Gold Rush challenge saw Toff and Andy desperately try to get as many gold nuggets as possible to tip their scale first. The trial was rather challenging for Andy as even before the start he claimed it was too much ‘hard work’ when he had only eaten rice in two days.

After performing tremendously well in the task, Toff and Andy were sad to leave. While departing, Toff said:

I am covered in gunk! This is not exactly how I planned any graceful exit but it’s just been amazing.

I found it tough but there are so many people they could have asked back so we should be honoured.

I’m A Celeb fans unhappy with the show format

After the double eviction, I’m A Celeb posted a video of Toff and Andy saying goodbye on their Instagram handle. Show fans were quick to rush to the comments and express their anger on the show’s format as they saw their favourites leave. One commented:

Argh, I'm not liking this format, seeing the best characters and most worthy campmates leaving so soon 😏 love both these guys, Toff would be my ultimate champ 😔

Another two added:

This really isn’t the “best of the best” when the format is like this. These two shouldn’t of gone. It’s ridiculous

Meanwhile, others wrote on Twitter:

The whole point of an All Star series of a show is the public get to decide who their ultimate champion is. The fact that the show isn’t live doomed it in the first place. Toff going out had made me stop watching. Well done

we all knew if the new #ImACeleb had a voting system toff would’ve won. so shit that good people are getting put out simply for being good and the shit ppl get to sit in camp getting further along the competition bc no one wants to pick them bc they’re deadweight
Whilst I’m enjoying #ImACeleb this format is absolute rubbish. Getting rid of Andy and Toff is so awful. It should be live and public voting.
