The biopic Rocketman will delve deeper into the musician's past to tell the story of his life and how he went from pub pianist Reginald Dwight to the world-famous Elton John. As well as charting his musical career, the film will also explore Elton's struggles with depression, substance abuse and accepting his sexuality.
Produced by Elton John himself, alongside his partner David Furnish, the film sees Kingsman star Taron Egerton in the lead role, after Tom Hardy - who was originally cast as Elton John - was dropped from the project, apparently because he was having problems with the singing. Taron will reportedly do all his own singing in the film. Bryce Dallas Howard takes on the role of Elton John's mother and Jamie Bell co-stars as Bernie Taupin, Elton John's long-term collaborator.
