Ernest's special name

Princess Eugenie also revealed the name of the new royal—Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank. It seems his name holds a lot of value to the couple, as it is an ode to several men in their family. The royal added:

He is named after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald.

According to Hello!, royal baby Ernest's first name is a subtle nod to his ancestor, King George V, whose middle name was Ernest. The couple chose to honour Jack's late father too, George Brooksbank, who passed away during the same week as his grandson August's christening, on November 18, 2021. Also, the name Ronald is a reference to Princess Eugenie's maternal grandfather, Sarah Ferguson's father Major Ronald Ferguson.

George is a very common name among the Royal family. As we all know, it has been a popular reigning name for centuries, but it is also the name of the late Queen Elizabeth's father, King George VI. The future King and Queen of Great Britain, Prince William and Kate, chose to name their first son, the heir to the throne, George as well.

Hello! royal editor Emily Nash noted the heartwarming aspect of the royal baby's names.

It's very touching that Eugenie and Jack have chosen names with such personal connection, particularly in paying tribute to Jack's late father George Brooksbank.
There is also the nod to Eugenie's maternal grandfather Major Ronald Ferguson and King George V, whose middle name was Ernest, so they clearly wanted to choose names with special meaning to their families.

We will update the article with more details to come. Stay tuned!
