Margot Robbie Has Been Confirmed To Star As Barbie In New Live-Action Film And It Sounds Fantastic

It's official: Warner Bros have confirmed the making of the new 'Barbie' live-action film as they close deal with Mattel. The best part? Margot Robbie will be starring as the doll we've all known and loved throughout our childhood - Barbie herself.

We've seen the Aussie bombshell gracing our screens as The Joker's twisted accomplice in love, Harley Quinn as well as glamourous and chic Naomi Lapaglia, the wife of a rampantly corrupt stockbroker. But Margot doesn't limit herself when it comes taking up the role of each and every character she brings to life, having delivered a outstanding peformance as a dishonoured figure skater in I, Tonya.

It's safe to say she won't be quitting any time soon, as she takes on the role of  someone whom we've all been familiar with since our dolly days - Barbie! As well as starring in the movie, the Suicide Squad star will be co-producing the live-action reboot - which means the actress will be pitching her own creativity into the mix. Putting their heads together, Warner Bros have closed a deal with grand-scale toy manufacturing company, Mattel, who were the very creators of the Barbie doll.

And it seems Margot herself is just as excited as we are about the announcement: “Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president," she explains proudly. "I’m so honoured to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide.”

Whilst the film in the making is still facing its early days and, more importantly, is still in need of a Ken, Warner Bros producers have high hopes for Robbie's portrayal of Barbie. Speaking about her starring role, chairman of Warner Bros Pictures Group Tommy Emmerich remarked, We've seen the Aussie bombshell gracing our screens as The Joker's twisted accomplice in love, Harley Quinn as well as glamourous and chic Naomi Lapaglia, the wife of a rampantly corrupt stockbroker.
