It would help if you were careful this summer to avoid making any mistakes with your iPhone, Facebook, or WhatsApp because cybercriminals operate year-round. Cyber-protection firm Panda Security told The Sun:

As the restrictions of PCR tests, passenger locator forms and strict mask-wearing eases, we’re already to get on a plane, dive into a pool and order a cocktail
However, flight cancellations aren’t the only thing you should be wary of when preparing for your next holiday.
Travellers shouldn’t just be worried about pick-pockets on their next vacation but should also be wary of their cybersecurity.

Here’s how you can be careful on your vacation this summer

Public Wi-Fi

Most people use public Wi-Fi when they are on vacation, probably at a mall, café or restaurant wi-fi. However, there’s a risk involved with using public Wi-Fi as hackers can track the traffic coming and going out of public wi-fi networks. Panda security added:

The traffic can include everything, such as personal passwords and social security numbers.

Social media

Usually, our social media is full of travel pictures and us updating a new story every time we are on a vacation. However, this is not safe. Burglary is on a rise in the UK and updating everything on social media might point out to troublemakers that you’re away from home.

Find my device

Anybody who has ever experienced losing an iPhone would know that the ‘Find my device’ feature on iPhone is a life saviour. Make sure that your Find my device settings are on while you’re on vacation just in case you lose your phone.

Public PCs

Using a public PC while on a vacation is also not risk-free. Panda Security warned:

Travellers should think twice before typing in sensitive information or connecting smart devices of USB sticks to a public PC.

Hackers can access all your information with just a click.
