No individual, no matter who they are or where they’re from, is without fault. When you’re in the public eye, your flaws are broadcasted all the more by former friends, acquaintances, and co-workers.
Unfortunately for Meghan Markle, two of her ex-friends have let the public in on one of her worst habits, and the royal family should probably be taking notes if they want to stay on good terms with Meghan and Harry.
In 2017, Meghan’s dearest childhood friend Ninaki Priddy spoke with Daily Mail about what it was like to grow up with one of the most famous faces in the world. She detailed all the major milestones they went through together, from their high school prom, to Meghan’s first marriage and divorce.
The two ended their friendship after unknown details of Meghan’s divorce came to light, but Ninaki revealed one thing about Meghan that the royal family should probably be aware of—Meghan’s ability to cut people out of her life. Ninaki said:
All I can say now is that I think Meghan was calculated — very calculated — in the way she handled people and relationships. She is very strategic in the way she cultivates circles of friends. Once she decides you’re not part of her life, she can be very cold.
According to the Daily Mail, Ninaki’s revelation was by no means malicious. In fact, she said it out of genuine concern. She added:
It’s this shutdown mechanism she has. There’s nothing to negotiate. She’s made her decision and that’s it.
Ninaki may have been the first person to shed light on Meghan’s rather scary mechanism, but she wasn’t the last. Last month, Lizzie Cundy—a TV personality in the UK—made similar claims about the Duchess of Sussex. The pair had met in 2013 when they attended a charity dinner, and Lizzie says that she didn’t hear from Meghan as much after her engagement to Prince Harry. Lizzie told Mirror:
She ghosted me once the engagement hit. She's ghosted quite a lot of people, obviously, including her family, so I'm not the worst person she's ghosted.
