Highest cases

The official website for Kent Council said that during the previous week, there were 256.3 new cases for every 100,000 people in the county—a shocking 28.1% increase from previous weeks. This comes as the country is continuously experiencing a reduced number of cases, according to the latest government figures.

Kent Council said:

All areas of Kent and Medway have moved to Step 4 of the government's national roadmap.
Everyone should be cautious while managing the risks, as cases of COVID-19 remain high. We expect and recommend that visitors to our public buildings, including libraries, should continue to wear face masks for the time being.

The vaccine drive seems to be generally doing well in the country as more and more people have been getting either their first or second jab. About 75 percent of UK adults have collected both doses of the vaccine. Even though this is a laudable achievement, more work needs to be done to encourage especially the younger generation to get the vaccine.

The prime minister, Boris Johnson, has hailed the 75 percent registered jabs as a huge success and has made a plea for more people to get vaccinated, so everyone can enjoy their freedoms safely. Official statistics reveal that about 6 million adults in the UK have not received any shot at all.

The new figures from Kent show that 970,705 individuals, over 18 years, have received their double dose vaccine, while in the Medway, the number is 159,429. The Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning group (CCG) is facilitating plans to begin the third phase of the vaccination campaign all over the county.
