'The United States is vulnerable'

During a recent broadcast on host Vladimir Solovyov's Russia-1 program, Konstantin Sivkov, a retired Russian naval officer, discussed the possibility of deploying a nuclear Sarmat missile to strike the Yellowstone Caldera. It is the largest supervolcano in North America.

Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine's minister of internal affairs, posted two clips of the conversation on Twitter with subtitles in English. Sivkov talked about how the Sarmat is 'capable... of striking across the South Pole, a global missile'. He continued that 'it is impossible to build an all-looking missile defence system, which means that the United States is vulnerable'.

The Sarmat 'poses a threat' to the Yellowstone Caldera

Sivkov then specified that:

The Sarmat poses a threat to the most feared facility on US territory, the Yellowstone volcano.

He said Russia's Belgorod submarine is based in the Pacific Ocean and highlighted that California's San Andreas and San Jacinto earthquake fault zones are close by. Sivkov continued:

And these faults, if activated, they can trigger the activation of the entire arc of fire of the Pacific Ocean. Which includes these faults, then comes the Yellowstone, then comes the Aleutian Grid volcanoes...
First of all, these very rifts will blow, they will bring down the entire east coast of the United States, and then secondly it could blow up this volcano.
