Excavations under the slab of a house

But this Tuesday, September 12, 2023, BFM DICI made an announcement that could be decisive in the investigation. The police are currently carrying out searches a few hundred meters from the grandparents' house, in the hamlet of Haut-Vernet. According to the news channel, a jackhammer was used by the police to destroy 'an enormous concrete slab' located under thehome of a local resident.

According to BFM DICI, investigators have been carrying out searches since Monday September 11, in a house located just a few hundred meters from the garden where Émile disappeared. The house was built in a meadow, close to a sheepfold, out of sight and hidden behind 'two hundred-year-old trees'.

The building, owned by a couple, has reportedly been under construction for several months. A company from the south of France is said to be working on the site. The owners, whose parents have lived in the village of Haut-Vernet for many years, are said to be 'very nice people', according to a resident who spoke to BFM DICI.
