These major supermarkets are recalling mince pies and other festive goods. Here's what you need to know

Asda and several other supermarkets have warned shoppers not to eat certain products amidst product recall over health and safety issues. Some of the products include mince pies and other festive treats and have been recalled by Aldi, Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Iceland and B&M.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued the alert due to concerns with three types of supermarket mince pies, pilau rice and hot chocolate. Families are being advised to check in their cupboards and freezers for affected products as some could be unsafe to eat.

Below are all the listed products that have been withdrawn along with advice on how to return the items, as per Birmingham Live.

Asda

Asda is taking the precautionary action of recalling some of their own-brand mince pies because they may contain pieces of plastic and are unsafe to eat.

  • Extra Special 4 Apple & Pecan Crumble Mince Pies - Pack size: 4 pack. Best before: All dates up to and including December 13, 2022.
  • Extra Special 4 Extra Indulgent Mince Pies - Pack size: 4 pack. Best before: All dates up to and including December 28, 2022.
  • Extra Special 4 Crumble Top Mince Pies - Pack size: 4 pack. Best before: All dates up to and including December 13, 2022.

The FSA commented:

If you have purchased any of the above products do not eat them, please return it to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. You do not need your receipt. If you would like any further information, please contact Asda Customer Relations by telephone on 0800 952 0101.

Sainsbury's, Tesco and B&M

Nestlé UK is continuing to recall AERO Hot Chocolate products as some may contain food-grade silica beads and so are also unsafe to eat.

  • AERO ‘Hot Choc’ sachets - Pack size: 24g. Batch code: All batch codes. Best before: All date codes.
  • AERO GO Instant ‘Hot Choc’ - Pack size: 28g. Batch code: All batch codes. Best before: All date codes.

The FSA commented:

If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, dispose of the contents and send the lid of the jar, the empty sachet or the sleeve of the cups (cardboard of plastic 8-sleeve) with your name and address for a full refund to AERO Hot Chocolate Recall, PO BOX 205, Freepost 1374, York, YO91 1XB. Aldi

Aldi is continuing to recall Gianni’s Milk Chocolate Lollies because they may contain almonds (nuts) and cause a health risk for anyone with a nut allergy. This issue only affects products sold at a limited number of Aldi stores in the Midlands.

  • Gianni’s Milk Chocolate Lollies - Pack size: 4 pack. Best before: September 2024.

The FSA commented:

Iceland

Iceland Foods is recalling Iceland Takeaway Pilau Rice because it contains egg, sesame, soya and wheat, and so presents a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to these or gluten intolerance.

  • Iceland Takeaway Pilau Rice - Pack size: 350g. Best before: January 10, 2024.

The FSA commented:

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg and/or wheat (gluten) and/or an allergy to sesame and/or soya do not eat it. Liqueurs

Marussia Beverages UK is recalling various Mozart Liqueurs because they contain milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.
