This will help officials determine whether the discovery could provide some needed answers to what may have happened to the travel blogger.

According to the Teton County coroner’s office, officials would use photographs, personal identification or DNA to ascertain the identity and cause of death.

Van Life

Petito had been on a cross-country trip with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie since July. The two had been documenting their journey on Instagram and YouTube using the hashtag, #Vanlife.

Laundrie, 23, returned to his home in Florida on September 01 without her. Ten days later, Petito’s parents reported her missing.

The first thing Laundrie and his family did when he arrived home in Petito’s van was to hire a lawyer to keep him from talking to the police.

North Port Police communications manager, Josh Taylor, said at the time,

They (Petito's parents) are being tortured right now by the potential of someone having information and not relaying it. I believe Brian has the information.

Days after police named him a person of interest in the case, Laundrie was reported missing.

Now police have launched an intensified search for Laundrie whose family insists through statements issued by their lawyer that they do not know of his whereabouts.

‘She Touched the World’

An attorney representing Petito’s parents, Richard Stafford, said in a statement that the family would like to be given space and privacy during this period. The statement said:

I will be in contact with you when Gabby's family is ready to make a public statement.

Her father, Joseph Petito said of his daughter in a tweet, 'She touched the world'.

The Laundrie family said they were ‘heartbroken’ about the news and were praying for Gabby and her family.
