Love Island 2018 winner Jack Fincham announced the birth of his first child, a daughter, via Instagram this weekend, just over nine months after his split from Dani Dyer. The proud dad had kept the happy news secret from everyone – and Dani’s reaction proves she was just as shocked as the rest of us…
Jack Fincham is officially a dad! The 28-year-old reality star announced that he had become a father for the first time in a gushing Instagram statement on Saturday, accompanied by a cute snap of Jack cuddling his newborn baby girl. His daughter, named Blossom, was born on Friday 24th January, weighing 8lb 2oz.
Jack wrote: ‘I’m normally a very open book and share most of my life on my social media. This blessing I chose not to. I’m just a normal geeza, who went on a tv show, which throws you straight into the public eye...which I will forever be grateful for. However I knew for myself I needed personal time and to keep this part of my life private to prepare for this new responsibility and part of me that will change my life forever. This is undoubtedly the best thing that has ever happened to me and it’s true what they say, the instant feeling of love and connection you have with your child is a feeling like no other.’
Jack also took the opportunity to sing the praises of his daughter’s ‘amazing’ mother, despite the fact that they’re not together. He insisted that they’re ‘great friends’ and that their priority is to co-parent their daughter together.
Whilst Jack didn’t reveal the identity of Blossom’s mother in his post, he has since confirmed to The Sun that Blossom’s mum is his 29-year-old pal Casey Ranger. Whilst the timing of this news – just nine months after Jack’s high-profile split from Dani Dyer - may raise eyebrows amongst some Jack and Dani fans, Jack insists he was single when he got together with Casey.
He told The Sun: ‘Myself and Casey got together when we were both single. It was a whirlwind romance and shortly after had the amazing news that she was expecting which we were both over the moon about. It didn’t work out romantically for us, however as I’ve said previously we are still great friends and have been for around 10 years.’
How did Dani Dyer react?
Appearing on BBC Radio 2 shortly after Jack’s post, Dani Dyer revealed that Jack had not forewarned her about the announcement, saying, ‘No news. When everyone else found out, I found out. So yeah.’ Nonetheless, she offered her best wishes to her ex, saying: ‘Listen all it is, everyone loves a baby like I said. I wish them all the best. Congratulations. There you go.’
