Affordable meal deals from supermarkets are a lifesaver for people who are busy with their jobs or pressed for time, and are unable to cook. With the cost-of-living crisis, most aspects of our life have been subject to cost-cutting, and it is quite helpful to ascertain which supermarket meal deals are providing us the best value for money.

A report by Metro does just that, by comparing meal deals across different supermarkets in the UK. Here are the findings:
Stores with set meal deals
Tesco and Sainsbury both have meal deals that start at £3.50. Tesco’s meal deal comes with selected sandwiches, wraps, rolls, pastries, or salads plus a drink and a snack. A meal deal offered by Sainsbury’s includes a main, which could be a sandwich, pasta, wrap, or pastry, a snack and a drink.
Morrison’s meal deal also includes a main meal, a drink, and a snack and is priced from £3.50.
Co-Op meal deal with a main, drink, and snack, is the most expensive at £3.75. Signing up for Co-op unlock applies 2p savings for every £1 spent on Co-Op branded products. Students also get 10% off.
Stores without set meal deals
Asda does not offer a set meal deal like the earlier stores. However, it offers three items for the price of two, which could be an equivalent to a meal deal. The price range for these items are between £3 to £5.
Aldi also does not have set meals. It does offer a variety of sandwiches, wraps, pasta, drinks, and snacks at very economical costs, with an egg and cress sandwich costing 85p and a bottle of water being 35p.
Lidl is also in the same boat with no meal offers. But they offers a wide array of lunch foods at attractive prices. According to the report, it is possible to spend less that £3 at Lidl for a whole lunch meal comprising of sandwich, snack and a drink.
