Whether it is for a weekday dinner or after a trip to the pub with friends, you know that you’ll not go hungry if a McDonald’s restaurant is anywhere close by.

McDonald’s dining rule after 5PM

As per the report, a McDonald’s in Wrexham has started playing classic music by Beethoven after 5 PM as a technique to quell clashes and tensions between rival gangs who hang out nearby.

The final straw that made the restaurant institute the new change, was a huge clash that took place involving about 20 people.

Besides playing classical music after 5PM, the McDonald’s will also be cutting off Wi-Fi inside the restaurant.

The reason for using classical music

One cop reportedly stated that the reason for playing classical music was that it is expected to help create a better atmosphere at the McDonald’s location, one that gives off a serene family feeling. He states,

The idea is the yobs would disperse as it's not their scene.
The classical music clearly differentiates between the nightclub atmosphere, that some customers have just left, and the more serene family restaurant that McDonald's aims to provide.

The report also states that effects of classic music have been tested by the police earlier at various locations, who found that it encourages acceptable behaviour and dissuades unruly crowds from gathering or causing nuisance.
