Which products are affected?

The product recall affects three types of Danone yoghurt with specific use-by dates. These are: Light and Free Peach Passion Fruit Greek Style Yogurt (4 x 115g pack, Use by 31 March 2021), Activia Vanilla 0% FAT – No added Sugar Yogurt (4 x 120g pack, Use by 2 April 2021), Activia Intensely Creamy Raspberry Yogurt (4 x 110g pack, Use by 31 March 2021).

You can find the use-by date on top of the product packaging. If you have bought one of these products, you are advised not to eat it. Instead, you can return it to the store where you bought it for a full refund. You are entitled to a refund for these products even if you no longer have the receipt.

In their product recall notice, Danone revealed that the recall follows an issue at one of their third party suppliers and that the product ‘may present a risk for consumers.’ Underlining their commitment to ‘excellent standards for our customers,’ Danone apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Why do food recalls happen?

Food recalls occur when a potential issue is found with a food item that presents a safety concern. Affected products are pulled from shelves and customers who have already purchased the item are invited to return it for a full refund. This can be due to the product becoming contaminated–either with foreign matter such as pieces of metal or with bacteria such as salmonella or listeria. Food recalls also occur when allergy information is incorrectly displayed.
