A new method for new babies

Kimberley already had three children from her first marriage when she decided to have her tubes tied after these pregnancies. The mother-of-one then remarried and had three more children with her new husband, thanks to in vitro fertilization (IVF), a procedure that reproduces the natural process of the fallopian tubes.

After another divorce, she decided to have a child with her new partner, younger than herself. Due to the condition of her fallopian tubes, which had been tied twice, and her age, she needed egg donation and IVF again to conceive this baby.

Kimberley was singled out

At first, her family didn't support her decision, but those close to her eventually rallied to her cause. Kimberley Chasteen told the Mirror that her family eventually realized she would go through it with or without their support.

At first [my family] were against it because of me being older and the chances of birth defects being greater.
But once I decided I was going for a donor egg, and they knew I was going to go through with it regardless, they were more supportive.

Kimberley actually spent $30,000 on the procedure, which surprised everyone, including her daughter Jessica. Especially as she became pregnant at the same time as Jessica.

Despite much online criticism, Kimberley was able to rely on her determination and the support of her daughter. Fortunately, her delivery went smoothly. The mother-of-seven did, however, experience a placental abruption and some bleeding.
