What his father had to say
Speaking to MailOnline, the boy's father, Jasbir Singh Chail, has expressed his deep concern for the future of his son. He said:
Something's gone terribly wrong with our son. We've not had a chance to speak to him but are trying to get him the help he needs. We are going through a difficult time. We are trying to resolve this issue and it's not easy.
But he wasn't the only one to comment on the boy's behaviour. Previous classmates of the Windsor Castle intruder have described him as being an 'oddball' who tried to make people around him laugh with inappropriate jokes in the classroom. One fellow student at Toynbee School in Chandler's Ford said he was 'always a bit odd and quiet most of the time.'
While another said:
He seemed like a normal lad really. Nothing to distinguish him from anything else. There was one big incident with him getting in a fight with someone but that was back when he was 13.
What went down at Windsor Castle?
19-year-old Jaswant Singh Chail uploaded a pre-recorded video to Snapchat in which he described his intentions in wanting to assassinate the Queen. In the video, in which he digitally altered his own voice to sound deeper and more menacing, he said:
If you have received this then my death is near. I'm sorry. I'm sorry for what I've done and what I will do. I will attempt to assassinate Elizabeth, Queen of the Royal Family.
Before adding:
This is revenge for those who have died in the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It is also revenge for those who have been killed, humiliated and discriminated on because of their race.
And though he was successful in scaling the fence of the Cambridge Gate, he was detained by security almost immediately, rendering him unable to carry out the crime.
