Big Brother UK’s return this year may not have left the impact show bosses had thought it would, but it still gained enough traction to drive show bosses to bring back Celebrity Big Brother. The new series will start in March 2024 and ITV is currently looking for potential cast members who will make the show’s comeback grand and iconic.

Amidst this, it has been rumoured that they have set their eyes on one very influential and popular Royal Family member - Prince Andrew’s wife Sarah Ferguson.

ITV bosses in a bid to cast Sarah Ferguson on Celebrity Big Brother

This comes after Sarah Ferguson almost signed up for I’m A Celebbut a dispute with show bosses didn’t make it work. Now, ITV executives are pulling out all the stops to line up a stellar cast for the next series and Sarah is their ‘main target.

A source told TheMirror:

Sarah would be a brilliant signing for Celebrity Big Brother. She is very smart, engaging and funny.
Not to mention the millions of viewers she would pull in if she began talking to housemates about the Royal Family and Prince Andrew.

However, the Duchess of York has kept herself off Reality shows despite her popularity and multiple offers. The source shared:

Sarah has never considered reality formats in the past but ITV bosses are hoping their offer might change that position.

It is understood that ITV bosses are ready to offer the Duchess £500,000 to appear on the show, the source added:

Signing her would be a massive coup. That’s why they are digging deep for the offer they plan to make her.

The casting team drew their attention to Sarah after she co-hosted and guest-edited a recent episode of ITV show ThisMorning. ITV executives loved her and wanted to maintain a healthy relationship with the Royal. The source explained:

Sarah has a great relationship with ITV and her stint on This Morning last month was a real success. It was an unexpected move for her but it worked brilliantly.
The fact she agreed to do that did have a part to play in the decision to target her for Celebrity Big Brother. She has been much more visible in recent months.

There's no certainty yet that Sarah will be on Celebrity Big Brother, but her business ventures are in red. Accounts show her lifestyle business Ginger and Moss, which sells a box of tea bags for £20, owes creditors £265,000, while production firm Planet Partners is £185k in the red. Seeing the state of her business, ITV’s offer might just be what she needs to turn things around.
