Queen Elizabeth II: This is who royal fans think should get her horses

The 73-year-old monarch took over his mother's stable after she passed away last month. It was reported earlier this month that King Charles III is planning to sell nearly one-third of the 37 equines Queen Elizabeth II had in races this year.

Give her a new role

There’s supposed to be an auction later this month at the Newmarket's Tattersalls. Queen Elizabeth II had a passion for horses and King Charles was just remotely related to it. Meanwhile, Queen Consort Camilla is also more passionate about horses than King Charles.

However, interestingly, she is not who royal fans think should get Elizabeth II’s horses. According to The Sun, Royals fans have been devastated to see the monarch sell off his mother’s horses and have urged him to pass them down to Zara Tindall.

As King Charles plans to wind down his mother’s multi-million-pound racing operation, royal fans believe Zara would be the perfect option to own the horses now. She shares a similar passion as that of the late monarch and is a former Eventing world champion and 2012 Olympics silver medallist.

Social media override

King Charles III’s recent decision to sell the horses apparently sent the royal fans in a social media override. One fan said online:

King Charles should keep the horses and maybe give the responsibility for them to Zara. The Queen would be saddened [if they were all sold].

While another added:

I think our dear Queen Elizabeth would be most upset at King Charles selling off her thoroughbred racehorses.
Her racing silks are so well-known and respected.
Wouldn't it be a lovely idea to pass her baton over to Princess Anne or Zara? Both with a lifetime of horse involvement.

However, the ultimate decision still rests with the King who wants to ‘continue with the traditions and connections with Royal Ascot,’ but not at the same scale as his mother.
