In his new book, The King: The Life of Charles III, Christopher Andersen claims that Princess Diana was romantically pursued by none other than former US President Donald Trump.

Infatuated with the Princess

Newsweek reveals that according to Andersen's latest book, Lady Diana had to rebuff romantic advances that Trump made in the aftermath of the breakdown of her marriage to Prince Charles.

Shortly after Princess Diana’s fatal crash, the former President claimed on a radio show that he could have slept with the Princess. According to journalist Selina Scott, Trump apparently told friends that ‘his biggest regret was that they hadn’t dated’.

In an interview on Howard Stern’s radio show in 2000, Trump said that he would have slept with Princess Diana ‘without even hesitation’, despite having branded her ‘crazy’. He said:

She had the height, she had the beauty, she had the skin

An unhealthy obsession

However, Scott claims that Trump’s advances were unwanted and even went as far as to say that the business mogul was ‘stalking’ Princess Diana.

According to The Mirror, Scott wrote that Trump bombarded Princess Diana’s Kensington Palace apartment with bouquets of roses and orchids in an apparent attempt to woo the recently divorced Princess. The journalist believed that Trump was searching for the ‘ultimate trophy wife’.

Scott apparently shared a lunch with the late Princess, during which Lady Diana expressed concern at Trump’s advances. Princess Diana allegedly said:

He gives me the creeps.

Rumours denied

In the run-up to the 2016 Presidential elections, Trump was interviewed by Piers Morgan. During their interview, the ex-Good Morning Britain host brought up the rumours of Trump’s ‘little frisson’ for Lady Diana.
