'That event'

In the interview, he recalls fondly having met Princess Diana, along with Princes William and Harry, a few times. He said:

They came to my dad’s house, too, and were super delightful.

A few weeks before the horrific car crash in Paris, Omar, Dodi, Princess Diana, Princes William and Harry were larking about on the Fayed family yacht in St Tropez. Omar recalls:

It was lovely family vibes

'The event' is the tragic and untimely death of his half-brother Dodi and Princess Diana. In 1997, Omar was turning 10. The businessman explains that because of his young age, he has few memories of that time in his life but understands the impact of Princess Diana and Dodi's deaths.

He tells Tatler:

That whole period went a bit over my head, which I think in some ways was fortunate.

A wake-up call

Despite having so few memories of that period, Omar admits that the family tragedy has somewhat shaped who he is today. He is at peace with it all, despite all the conspiracy theories about the involvement of MI5, Prince Philip, or even his own father. He states that:

We have to be humble enough to accept the mysteriousness.

The publication speculates that the sudden loss of his older brother, Dodi, urged Omar to 'get out into the world'. The young entrepreneur has achieved much since leaving school at the age of 16.

In the interview, Omar praises King Charles as a source of inspiration. He commended Charles for his work with local communities and farmers. Omar said:

I really admire what HRH has done with his blessings and burdens to further work around local communities and regional agriculture. I love that.
