The Prince and Princess of Wales have announced their weekend plans but they will clash with another family event that will take place. Moreover, since it is currently half-term in the UK, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will likely attend this event but without their parents.

So what event are Prince William and Princess Kate going to and what family occasion are they missing?

Prince William and Princess Kate are off to France

Kensington Palaces announced that the Prince and Princess of Wales will be heading to the south of France for the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup. Prince William will be attending the Wales v Argentina match as the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union. The match takes place on Saturday, October 14 at 4 pm in Marseille.

Princess Kate will also be in Marseille for the England v Fiji game, which takes place on Sunday, October 15 at 4 p.m., as she is the patron of the Rugby Football Union.

Prince William has faced backlash before when it comes to attending sports games as he made the decision to not attend the Lionesses’s final during the Women’s Football World Cup back in August.

As per Woman & Home, Prince William had been labelled ‘sexist’ as he often attends important games for the men’s teams.

Prince William and Princess Kate will miss their nephew’s birthday

As mentioned before, Prince William and Princess Kate attending the Rugby World Cup in France clashes with a family event, on the Middleton side.

According to Woman & Home, Pippa Middleton and the rest of the family will be celebrating her son’s 5th birthday. Since it is half-term, it is believed that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will attend their cousin’s party and spend some quality time with their mother’s side of the family.

It is still unclear whether or not Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 7, will travel to France with their parents. It is highly unlikely that Prince Louis will be present as he is still only 5 and is too young for such big events.

Several royal correspondents believe that the three children will remain at home and will stay with the Middletons in Berkshire.
