A destructive temper

On Kinsey Schofield’s podcast To Di for Daily, Andersen discusses the contents of his new book and King Charles III’s alleged bad temper.

He tells readers that the monarch goes into a blind rage at the expense ‘of just about anyone around him’, including his former valet, Ken Stronach.

The valet recounted, to Anderson, an alleged incident that supposedly happened at a villa in the South of France. According to the account, the King flew into a blind rage looking for a cufflink that fell down the plughole of a sink in the bathroom.

Andersen writes:

Flying into a blind rage, he pulled the sink off the wall, then smashed it, looking for the cufflink.

The book continues:

Unable to find the missing jewellery, a wild-eyed Prince of Wales spun around and grabbed his valet by the throat.

Luckily for Mr Stronach, he escaped from the then-Prince’s grip and fled to a nearby linen closet. He hid there for over half an hour, waiting for the then-Prince to leave the bathroom.

‘I have nothing to live for’

According to the author, King Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage was so explosive that royal protection officers were afraid ‘of all the weapons’ that were lying around the palace.

Andersen also alleged that King Charles III was once reportedly on the ‘edge of a nervous breakdown’ during his marriage to Princess Diana.

The author writes that the King turned to one of his confidants, Arnold Goodman and said:

I have nothing to live for.

Mr Goodman reportedly supposed the King was suffering from ‘the classic signs of depression’. The then-Prince Charles apparently believed he was trapped in a loveless marriage but was extremely worried that divorce ‘would have grave repercussions for his children, the royal family and the monarchy itself’.
