Here’s how she does it
The Princess of Wales has a scar of about three inches just in front of and above her ear. So, most of Kate’s hairstyles are done in a way that hides the scar. The scar, however, is still visible during her formal engagements when she has her hair tied up, reported My London.
The scar comes from a childhood traumatic incident when Kate was in school. Kensington Palace also previously confirmed the presence of the scar and acknowledged that it has been there since her childhood after she got a major surgery done. So, most of the Princess’ hairstyles are done in a way that the scar isn’t visible to the public.
Story of the scar
Katie Nicholl’s book Kate The Future Queen actually addresses the scar. Katie revealed that Kate had to undergo the operation due to a significant health scare she had at Marlborough School. Reportedly, the Princess discovered a lump on the side of her head while she was at school.
She alerted the nurse, who contacted her mother immediately and then took her to the hospital. The lump was removed in an emergency operation and then Kate was sent back to school as normal. A school staff confirmed:
I can remember the incident and her having an operation.
I don't recall anything happening on the hockey pitch that had anything to do with the lump. Catherine had the operation during her term time.
She was back at school very soon afterwards. As usual, nothing was too much of a big deal for her.
Even Prince William has a scar on his forehead that has been previously referred to as the ‘Harry Potter scar.’
