Love Island: Here's everything you need to know about season eight so far

Love Island season eight is set to return in just a couple of weeks and its rumours have got us hooked already. Here’s everything we know about the show.

The new Love Island teaser just came out and it’s everything that we ever wanted and more. The colourful teaser points towards a new aesthetic for the show. This confirms the rumour that the ITV2 series’ bosses are shaking things up this time. Here’s what you need to know so far:

Release date

The show is expected to start somewhere in the second week of June. According to recent rumours and reports, it is expected to hit the TV screens on June 6. However, it may very well just be a rumour. An ITV spokesperson told Metro.co.uk:

It is too early to confirm scheduling for the 2022 series.

Contestants

There has been a lot of speculation about who the singletons are going to be this year. However, there is no confirmation yet. Usually, the contestants are announced a week before the launch date, which means we can expect it to happen around the last week of May or early June.

New rumoured contestant

According to a recent The Sun’s report, ITV bosses are trying to put former England and Liverpool striker Michael Owen’s daughter, 19-year-old Gemma Owen, in the show. Not only is she beautiful, smart, and single, but she also owns her own business. The source confirmed:

ITV bosses are scrambling to get her signed up for this year’s Love Island. However, if talks are successful, it’s likely to be a huge payday for Gemma too.

The new villa

While it has been confirmed that the show won’t be returning to its previously loved location, the new villa is still expected to be somewhere in Majorca. The prospective new location is much more rustic-looking than the previous fancy villa, implying that the next generation of candidates will get a taste of Spain's countryside life.

Host

There were speculations that ex-Love Island contestants Maura Higgins or Maya Jama may replace Laura Whitmore. However, the beauty has signed again with a hefty £500,000 deal for the upcoming season.
