Laura Whitmore: This is who will be replacing her on BBC Radio 5 Live

After the news was dropped earlier this week that Laura Whitmore would be resigning her duties at BBC Radio 5 Live, this is who will be replacing her.

With all the success that she has found hosting Love Island, the blonde beauty has decided to part ways with her duties at BBC Radio 5 Live and her replacement has just been announced.

Who will replace Laura Whitmore?

Taking to their official Twitter account, BBC Radio Live announced the following:

We’ve got some exciting news...@HelenSkelton will present a new-look Sunday morning programme on BBC Radio 5 Live. The new show, from 10am to midday, launches on August 14th. Welcome Helen.

Following the official announcement that Whitmore would be quitting the show, BBC Radio 5 Live controller, Heidi Dawson, confirmed the news on her end as well, saying:

Laura has made the difficult decision to leave after a brilliant four years. We'd like to thank her for the energy, insight and humour she has brought to this programme and look forward to working with her again in the near future.

What will Whitmore be doing next?

The Irish TV presenter has explained that she is interested in seeing where Love Island can take her next as it has really catapulted her to new heights. A source close to Whitmore said:

Love Island has given her huge exposure and a healthy pay packet, and she’s now going to exploit that to the max. Laura has already hinted she has other projects in the pipeline and she can’t find the time to continue with all her roles.

Before adding:

So something had to go, and it's sad for listeners that this is what’s been jettisoned as she moves onwards and upwards.
