The idea behind the video was to have Toby Aromolaran, of Nigerian heritage, have girlfriend Chloe Burrows try Nigerian food for the first time and record her reaction.

'Not everything has to be recorded and posted'
But unfortunately, viewers did not respond to the video as the couple had hoped as many were quick to criticise Burrows 'dramatic' and 'disrespectful' demeanour. In the video, Chloe can be seen dismissing some Nigerian classics such as plantain, gizzard, Moi Moi and fufu in a way where many viewers felt her reactions were uncalled for and over-the-top. One viewer commented:
It is extremely disrespectful to film a White person trying food from another culture while gagging and making snide remarks. She literally doesn't have to try it. It's not compulsory. The people from the culture who created it love it and it's part of the history and culture of the people. Not everything has to be recorded and posted.
Another one agreed, by saying:
This was simply just disrespectful, she really didn’t have to be that dramatic.
While a third quipped:
Ew. I’d never post someone disrespecting my culture like that gross...
Break-up rumours
The backlash comes after the couple were said to be in a rocky stage in their relationship after rumours circulated that the two were on the verge of splitting. However, the couple have confirmed that though they were having trouble making their conflicting schedules work, they are still going strong and more in love than ever.
