S Club 7’s Paul Cattermole’s quest for ‘one true love’ and his relationship with Hannah Spearritt

S Club 7’s Paul Cattermole was found dead at his Dorset home on Thursday. The 46-year-old singer-turned-tarot reader was said to be really excited about his future and the band’s reunion tour. In wake of his death, a video of his appearance looking for love on First Dates Hotel in 2019 has resurfaced online.

In the video, Paul is seen admitting that he would trade his S Club 7 ‘success’ and ‘fame’ for a chance at ‘one true love,’ reported MailOnline. He said:

Would I have traded the success and the number ones for one true love? I think yeah, yeah

Fame isn't the route to happiness, money isn't the route to happiness, being with somebody you love is.

He added:

The life I've had made it tough to get to grips with what made a real relationship.

Paul Cattermole and Hannah Spearritt’s rocky relationship

Paul had an array of short relationships and a one serious on-and-off with S Club co-star Hannah Spearritt. The two started dating in 2001 and kept their relationship private. The former S Club 7 singer confessed to sneaking in and out of Hannah’s house in the early hours to avoid being spotted by fans.

Their romance came to an end after five years in 2006. In 2015, the two rekindled their romance once again when the band got together for a tour, confirmed Daily Record. However, the rekindling was short-lived as Paul later claimed that Hannah left him for ‘Hollywood fame’ and he doesn’t think she is the ‘same person’ she was before. Meanwhile, Hannah got back with her personal trainer Adam Thomas.

Paul’s claim started an ugly Twitter spat in 2017 where Hannah branded Paul ‘broke and desperate.’ She tweeted:

Hannah is understood to be ‘heartbroken’ and ‘inconsolable’ over her ex-boyfriend’s death. A source claimed:

Hannah couldn't even speak of the news – her boyfriend has been having the conversations that need to be had. She is inconsolable. This has come out of nowhere and she is simply numb.

Another source added:

This came as a massive shock, and she is struggling to believe he is no longer with us. Just as they rekindled their friendship, the worst happened. The band are all in pieces.

This comes after the two stars made amends early this year in January before S Club 7’s big 11-date reunion tour. A source said:

Hannah and Paul met in January to resolve their issues following years of disputes. They have sorted out their differences and are even on good terms now for the first time since they can remember.
