Love Island has always been slammed for something or the other – be it for the diversity on the show, the age of contestants or even their body types. And it looks like they have taken the feedback this time too seriously as a new series, especially targeting middle-aged people, is in the works of being produced.

Love at any age
After this year’s fan criticism about the ages of the Islanders and body-perfect contestants, ITV bosses want to stage a more mature edition of the show, confirms The Sun. Fans have claimed that the current series contestants are too young and have little of interest to say, as such the idea behind the new show would be to find people in their 40s or 50s with normal bodies and couple them up.

The working title of this middle-aged edition is called ‘your mum, my dad’ and will be filmed later this year. A source told the publication:
Times change and the current generation in their 40s and 50s still care about how they look, are fit and healthy, into fashion and are ready to let their hair down.
This show will give those who settled down young a second chance at love while they still feel in their prime.
Mature contestants
Some of the fans have pointed out that the young contestants on the ITV series are not emotionally mature enough to do justice to the experience they are getting and older contestants would make better and more relatable TV content. The attempt of singletons to find love in their 40s and 50s is expected to screen in 2023. Meaning, that there could be three Love Island to look forward to next year. The source added:
And, let’s face it, they know their minds, will be capable of intelligent conversation and are likely to be much more adventurous — all ingredients regular Love Island sometimes lacks.
