The Swift-Del Rey Collaboration

The Evermore artist is all set to collaborate with Del Rey and gushed about their collaboration announcement on Instagram, as per Rolling Stone. The song is supposed to be about ‘falling in love with a person, at the same time as they’re falling in love with you’, as per the article.

Controversies surrounding Lana Del Rey

Del Rey has been making headlines over the years, and not always for the right reasons. Deemed ‘problematic’, the Summertime Sadness singer has seemingly stood on the wrong side of history many times.

There have been many allegations against the singer, from anti-feminist lyrics to inauthenticity. As per Insider, she has often been ‘cancelled’ and called out by audiences for various reasons such as glamorizing abuse and is described online as ‘a problematic white woman’.

The public open letter

Del Rey has also gone to the extent of name-dropping and calling out female artists for their songs. She supposedly tried to 'tear down' her peers in a public statement and an open letter on Instagram. The letter read:

Now that Doja Cat, Ariana [Grande], Camila [Cabello], Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f---ing, cheating etc.

This didn’t sit well with people, and the fact that she lists largely women of colour lead to allegations of racism.
