Who is Samantha Cameron?

Personal life

Samantha was born Samantha Sheffield on 18 April 1971. Her parents are Sir Reginald Sheffield 8th Baronet, and Annabel Jones, Viscountess Astor, according to the Sun. She grew up on a 300-acre estate in north Lincolnshire with her family who has multiple connections to the aristocracy.

She was privately educated in The School of St Helen & St Katharine in Oxfordshire, then completed her A levels at the esteemed Marlborough College in Wiltshire. She moved on to study Fine Arts at Bristol Polytechnic. It was during this time that she met 25-year-old David Cameron—who is now worth millions. They met through his little sister Clare and a romance later blossomed during David and Clare’s parents' 30th anniversary.

Samantha and David got married four years after they began dating. They have welcomed four children into the world: Ivan in 2002, Nancy in January 2004, Arthur in February 2006 and last, Florence in 2010. Unfortunately, Ivan tragically passed away at the age of 6 in 2009.

Ivan was diagnosed with Ohtahara syndrome, which is a very rare epilepsy syndrome characterised by seizures. When Ivan was 6 he had to be rushed to the hospital so his mother took him while David remained home with the children. He ultimately decided to head to the hospital as well. When he arrived, they were trying to resuscitate his son but were unable to save his life.

Samantha's career

Samantha is a highly established businesswoman. She served as the Creative Director of Smythson of Bond Street. Her tenure from 1997 to 2010 was a successful time in the company’s lifespan. She won a British Glamour Magazine Award for Accessory Designer of the Year in 2009. Her husband took office around the same time she stepped down from her position as Creative Director, and she took a part-time creative consultancy position at the company. In 2017, Samantha founded Cefinn a London-based womenswear label. In addition, she previously served as a judge for the Vogue Fashion Fund.

Many fashion enthusiasts who have followed Samantha began to feel excited as David Cameron's return to government work could mean a potential return to form for Samantha as Cefinn was struggling, according to Mail Online, 'Cefinn's cumulative losses since the company was founded total more than £2.6million'.
