Coleen Nolan, one of the star presenters of ITV’s Loose Women, announced on the show that she had been diagnosed with skin cancer. In her segment, the woman shared that the diagnosis came along after one of her sisters had flagged a ‘tiny bit of skin’ on her body that was ‘a bit red.

While the diagnosis came to a surprise to Coleen Nolan, her family history with the disease is long lasting. Let’s have a look at how the woman came to fame and how cancer has plagued her family for years.

The Nolan Sisters and their rise to fame

Coleen Nolan is the youngest of eight children. Very early on in Coleen Nolan’s life, fame came to be. Indeed, she and her 5 sisters formed the international success Nolan Sisters later on known as The Nolans.

They became Ireland’s First Family of Music releasing hits through the late 70s to the early 80s. The Nolans were very successful internationally, especially in Japan. In recent years, The Nolans tried to make a comeback but with not much success. Indeed, the family was hit by several tragedies, from several cancer diagnosis to Bernie’s death in 2013.

Coleen Nolan solidified her individual fame when she became a regular panelist on Loose Women in 2000. She also took part of Dancing on Ice as well as Celebrity Big Brother in 2012. Since the beginning of the millennium, Coleen Nolan is a staple of English television. The woman has a strong following on Instagram with over 300K followers. Daily, people comment on her appearance on Loose Women and even though comments are not always positive, she is still an icon of the program.

Coleen Nolan’s diagnosis and history with cancer

As reported earlier, on 17 July 2023, during her show Loose WomenColeen Nolan shared news of her cancer diagnosis.

She said:

I went back in and he was very good and he said, 'Look, it's nothing to worry about. It is actually a cancer that doesn't necessarily spread

However, even though the diagnosis is better than her sisters’, Coleen Nolan still needs to go through treatment. She explained:

we need to treat it and we'll try it with cream and then the chemo cream and then if that doesn't work, we'll cut it out and give you a skin graft

While she is relieved by her diagnosis, she also shared that it was hard for her to share her diagnosis since she is watching her sister Linda go through incurable cancer. Moreover, the Nolan sisters have been hit by the disease for years. Bernie Nolan was first diagnosed in 2010 and passed away in 2013.

In 2022, Anne Nolan revealed that she has cancer for the second time. In 2023, Linda Nolan announced that her cancer had spread to her brain. Now in July 2023, Coleen Nolan is the latest victim of the disease in her family.
