The UK pop group has announced that they will be taking a break and going their separate ways after being together for ten long years. After their Confetti tour concludes in May, the girl trio will split up, but they insist they will reunite in the future. The news comes a year after Jesy Nelson made headlines when she abruptly left the band to pursue a solo career.
However, it was only last month that Little Mix defied the split rumours that had been swirling around them. The band appeared on Capital Breakfast to discuss their greatest hits album and promised that they would continue to tour for years, just like The Rolling Stones.
On a break
Little Mix announced the news on Twitter on Thursday, describing the situation in a series of emotional messages. The band gave a poignant performance on The Graham Norton Show just moments after revealing the news. The Twitter statement said:
We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix.
It’s been 10 amazing years, a wonderful non-stop adventure, and we feel the time is right to take a break so we can recharge and work on some other projects.
Thanking their fans for the never-ending support and love, the band tweeted:
We can’t thank you enough for your love and never-ending support since the beginning. We love you all SO much.
Knowing that the break might sound too much like an end, the girls made sure to convey that it is only temporary.
We are not splitting up - Little Mix are here to stay 💫 We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future. We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more.
And with a video compilation of some of their favourite moments over the years, the band said:
We’re sisters and we’ll always have each other and you, the fans, in our lives. Little Mix is forever ♥️ See you on tour! Jade, Leigh-Anne and Perrie x.
While the girls tried to cushion the blow, Little Mix fans were understandably upset. Fearing that the break might become similar to the one that One Direction took. Fans had all sorts of reactions on Twitter:
Crying and sliding down a wall right now. I love you ladies so much you warm my hearts!
I'm crying but I'm happy for you at the same time, sisters forever.
NOOOOOO i've heard that one before, don't leave us. Thank you for everything, I love you girls ❤️.
