Liberty Poole and Shannon Singh already have some celebrity fans...

New Islanders Liberty Poole and Shannon Singh had already caught the attention of some celebs before announcing they were going on Love Island.

When questioned about who’d been sliding into her DMs, new Islander Liberty Poole teased:

I have had a few blue ticks in the DMs – they are just footballers or boxers. But there is no one that I have ever thought ‘oh you’re famous’ or ‘I know him.’

Shannon Singh’s celeb followers

Meanwhile, Liberty’s fellow Islander Shannon Singh has also had some celebrity admirers on her social media. Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner – who recently split from Chloe Ferry – has made no secret of the fact he’s a fan, and has liked plenty of her Insta posts as one of her 185,000 followers.

Hollywood’s Mehcad Brooks – who starred in Desperate Housewives, Supergirl and Mortal Kombat – is also a fan of Shannon’s. Back in 2019 he commented on a photo of Shannon posing in lingerie ‘If this doesn't work for date night, he don't like women’.

Celebrity connections?

One regular Love Island feature that seems to be missing from the 2021 lineup so far is an Islander with a close celebrity relative. The trend started in 2018 when we had Dani Dyer, daughter of Danny. In 2019, we got Tommy Fury, Tyson’s younger brother, and in Winter Love Island we got Sophie Piper, Rochelle Humes’ lookalike half-sister.

None of the Islanders announced for Love Island 2021 so far have a celeb relative as far as we known but there’s still time as plenty more singles will be entering the villa over the course of the show. It was previously rumoured that Harley Benn, son of boxer Nigel Benn would be going in. Could he be a late entry?
