While sanitary products are essential for the well-being of women, they remain a major expense and are almost like a luxury product for people living in precarious situations and 20-year-old student, Irene, is advocating for a full refund of tampons and pads.

For a full refund of sanitary products
To get her message across, the young woman decided to spend a whole day at college without wearing any protection during her period. Irene then walked around in a grey leggings with a big bloodstain. While she could not avoid criticism, mockery and stares, she did not care and even posted pictures on instagram, spreading her legs.
"You may not want to pay for our sanitary products, you may find my performance useless, dirty, despicable, but you will not be able to prevent our flow from being released. We pay the price of oppression, the price of mystery, the price of inequality, you don't really think that we are going to pay more for chlorine in our pussies while you continue to stigmatize and demonize our blood, our hair and our shit. Let my blood run," she writes in a comment.
Far from wanting to go viral, Irene explains her gesture was a glimpse of what would happen women decided not to pay out of their own pocket for their sanitary products.
