Hope for this endangered species

Not only are these images spectacular, but they are very reassuring for the scientific community. Australian researchers who specialize in the protection of endangered species, such as these sea turtles, were reassured by the number of turtles that were spotted. They had truly underestimated the number of turtles present in the area.

60,000 female turtles were identified

To keep track of the number of turtles, scientists marked them when they got to the shore. They counted an average of about 23,000 turtles a night. But thanks to these spectacular images captured by drones, we know that there are 60,000 female green turtles around Raine Island, a nesting hotspot where they lay their eggs.

Looks like the future of sea turtles is very bright!
