Alysha found comfort in consuming thousands and thousands of calorieson a daily basis! Some days, she would order food from five different fast-food restaurantsfor one single meal, which often amounted to double the recommended 2,000 calories per day. During her teen years, Alysha experienced endless bullying, forcing her to drop out of school at only 14 - it was tough for her to believe that she was beautiful.

She felt embarrassed about her looks so she rarely stepped outside. However, after choking on a soft drink and barely recovering, she knew she had to change, so she joined a gym! Her teen years may have been rough, but Alysha, now 21, has completely changed her healthand outlook on life.

A study in the Nature Neuroscience journal recently found thatfast foodis as addictive as heroin or smoking, which is one of the reasons why it causes compulsive eatingand obesity. These kinds of foods program the brain into craving more sugar, salt and fat. The latest figures show that a quarter of all people in Britain are obese. These numbers are expected to rise to 8 out of 10 men and 7 out of 10 women who will be obese.
