The life of a YouTuber isn’t always easy. Elle Darby wanted to stay for free for five nights in the prestigious hotel The White Moose Café in Dublin for a romantic getaway with her boyfriend in exchange for a feature on her vlog.

The request was published on Facebook by the owner of the hotel, who responded, ‘If I let you stay here in return for a feature in your video, who is going to pay the staff who look after you? Who is going to pay the housekeepers who clean your room? The waiters who serve you breakfast? Maybe I should tell my staff they will be featured in your video in lieu of receiving payment for work carried out while you’re in residence?’
Elle was extremely annoyed by this humiliation and published a video to settle the score. Amidst the buzz that was created by this story, the hotel owner decided to ban all YouTubers from his hotel and even sent the young woman a bill for €5,289,000 (around £4,620,000), since she got so much publicity from the story going viral.
