The key is that you need to use BODMAS - the order of operation for equations like this. Here's what it stands for:

B - Brackets

O - power Of

D - Division

M - Multiplication

A - Addition

S - Subtraction

So, following this order we need to first deal with the sum in the brackets (2+1). Then, you're left with the problem 6÷2x3. Next comes division so we need to solve 6÷2. That gives us the final some of 3x3... which of course equals 9! So there you go, the correct answer is 9.
