It’s been two years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle first left the country to start a life away from the British monarchy and now that they’re a family of four, a home-coming is long overdue. 2022 could be an especially good time to return, not only because of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, but also because Prince Philip’s memorial service will be held in spring at Westminster Abbey.

Going back to the UK

According to Mail Online, the couple has already been invited to attend the service by the Queen herself, but they may have to decline the offer if they don’t get police protection for their family.

Recently, Prince Harry disclosed that he’s been desperately trying to find a way to get his wife and kids back into the UK since last year. In a statement released by his legal team, the royal wants his children to ‘get to know his country’ but has been unable to do so because of security concerns. This could be the reason why Lilibet and Archie have not been able to meet anyone from their dad’s side of the family.

His lawyers revealed that Prince Harry even agreed to pay for UK police protection, but was denied by British authorities. The statement said:

The duke first offered to pay personally for UK police protection for himself and his family in January of 2020 at Sandringham. That offer was dismissed. He remains willing to cover the cost of security, as not to impose on the British taxpayer.

He has taken up the matter with the Home Office but if he doesn’t get access to proper security it could mean that his family will miss out on the memorial service and the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

They revealed that he’s been trying to reconnect with Prince Harry and has been spending a lot of time with him over the phone. He’s even invited the couple to stay at his residence if they ever come to the UK. The source said:

This is something he is hoping to remedy which is why he made the gesture for Harry, Meghan and the children to stay with him if they wanted to, whenever they may come home for a period of time.
In the meantime there has been a series of good natured and enjoyable calls between them all which is something the prince very much looks forward to.
