Available for sale on the Maison Real Estate website, House Tully’s ancestral home is waiting for a new owner to invest in the place after being passed from hand to hand over the past few decades.

Gosford Castle (its real name) is a building that had quite a bit of history behind it before becoming a filming location for the HBO series. Built in the mid-nineteenth century by architect Thomas Hopper, it was used during the Second World War to house troops and prisoners of war. A few years later in 1950 the fortress was sold to the Ministry of Agriculture for ten years.

In 1960, the castle was then used to store archives, before being ceded to the army to install a barracks for soldiers. Finally in the 1980s the imposing building, which has no less than 15 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, was transformed into a hotel before being sold again to the Irish government.

The castle has a starting price at auction of £460,000, and is divided into six apartments of about 3500 square feet each. In other words, the future owner will not be wanting for space!
