This is the actress playing Camilla Parker Bowles in The Crown series 5

The actress taking on the role of the Duchess of Cornwall in the fifth season of The Crown has now been revealed.

It’s official: Olivia Williams will be taking on the role of Camilla Parker Bowles in The Crownseries five. She’s taking over from Emerald Fennell, who portrayed the young Camilla in series three and four. Olivia will start filming this year, with the series set to air in 2022.

Who is Olivia Williams?

Olivia has been acting since the 1990s in both stage and film productions. You might recognise her from her role as Mrs Darling in the 2003 live-action adaptation of Peter Pan or from her role as Rachel in 2011’s Hanna. More recently, she’s been starring in sci-fi series Counterpart on Starz.

Who else is in The Crown series 5 cast?

Olivia will be acting alongside Dominic West as Prince Charlesand Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, who have taken over from Josh O’Connor and Emma Corrin respectively. Queen Elizabeth II will be played by Imelda Staunton – who replaces Olivia Colman.

Meanwhile, Lesley Manville will take over the role of Princess Margaret from Helena Bonham-Carter. Jonathan Pryce is stepping into the role of the late Prince Phillip, picking up from previous actor Tobias Menzies. Other roles, including Princes Andrew and Edward and Princess Anne, are yet to be cast.

The Crown series 5 will be the penultimate season, with the same cast expected to remain in the roles for the final season. The series is expected to cover the 1990s, including the Queen’s ‘annus horribilis’ 1992, in which three of her four children’s marriages broke down and a fire that seriously damaged much of Windsor Castle.
